| General Features |
The Thirdwheel features a general purpose Green Lane, Long Distance Trials Outfit with the option of riding the motorcycle solo.
The game menu is in three easily accesible sections
1/ Game Setup - Choose a game type, section direction etc.
2/ Workshop - Motorcycle, Sidecar and Riders settings.
3/ Help(F1) - Game options, Camera Setting and Motocycle Controls.
If a part/actor is knocked off (wheel, passenger etc) it is no longer controllable by user and in the case of a wheel no longer functions as a motor.
Also rider and passenger can falling off, converting to a"rag doll" in the event of a crash, bump, jump, etc.
Brake lights work!
Tyre grip and skid marks with sound effects.

Cameras:
Multiple cameras to give optional view points, currently there are
three cameras in this game and they can be placed behind the outfit, on
the rider or passenger, overhead or each side of the outfit, I also will
be adding a few other camera locations as well which have yet have to be decided.
|
Simulation & Arcade modes:
Currently the rider and passenger automatically
balance the outfit and it rarely tips over completely, the system I have
designed works well, and you can have a lot of fun thrashing the outfit
around. However I am considering turning off the balance system, or at
least giving you the option to do so on the trials maps. I did find that
it was pretty tricky to balance things manually, but I will test a bit
more to see if it's viable option.

Vehicle Type:
Decide whether to test your skill using the motorcyle with a sidecar on or just have a go at it solo.
|
Front End:
Telescopic or Leading Link forks options are available if the motorcyle with a sidecar is chosen above the fork type defaults to leading links
and conversly if the solo motorcycle is chosen the fork type defaults to Telescopic. Your fork preference can still be set to either type
and can be saved in the lower menu.
|
Rear End:
Mono or Twin Shock rear end options are available, and similar to the above, if the motorcyle with a sidecar is chosen above the fork type defaults to Twin Shock
and conversly if the solo motorcycle is chosen the fork type defaults to Mono shock. Rear end preference can still be set to either type
and can be saved in the lower menu.
|
Suspension:
Three suspension handling characteristics options are offered, Road, Trail or Motocross.
Road is of course lower and generally a bit tighter, Motocross taller with more suspension travel and Trail somewhere in the middle.
|
Tyres:
A choice of tyres is available now also Road, Trail or Motocross. This not only makes the outfit or motorcyle look surprisingly different
but changes the whole driving experience, for example a Motocross tyre doesn't grip on tarmac very well but is great on mud.
Currently individual tyre choices are not available you have to set all the wheels to one tyre type.

On the full version it is easy to substitute your own custom textures (.png and .jpg formats), and custom sound files (.ogg and .wav formats).
There are no options for changing or adding alternative models as this would be impractical at present.
I know this is teaching Granny how to suck eggs but I will say it anyhow.
Before you even think of changing anything - BACK THE GAME UP!
I have tried to 'error trap' missing or incorrectly named files and the game will substitute default error textures and sounds and it will be apparent which files are incorrect.
However, if you do break the game with your custom files you can then easily fix the problem.
Simply replace the original files and all will be well again...

Skins:
Can't wait to see you people make some better skins for the outfit and the riders...
|
Sounds:
Personally I like the motorcycle engine to sound like a four stroke twin, but guess there will have to be an option to make it sound like a two stroke!
